wahhhh. this made me all shivery and goosebumpy, like a good ghost story. it just has such a beautiful simple force of style-- the voice is so vivid and it seems to remind me of all sorts of traditional stories-- folk stories or children's stories. it's very powerful. there's this strong drive, a movement to find out the mystery, and it builds so smoothly-- this reminds me of the tightness of voice in `dandelion' and your lazarus!draco one. the first-person really really works, once again because of all the little colloquialisms and mannerisms and such. i don't know if it's ginny, in some sort of objective sense, but because the personality here is so vivid, it doesn't matter, one believes it's ginny while one's caught up in it.
and the resolution is just beautiful, powerful and almost -right-, like fables are, like you really are discovering some sort of important truth. i've never seen that particular storytelling device used before (in fanfic i remember reading), and it really works well here. it's the sort of thing that gets used in fables & some children's books (like hp, somewhat), and here it just -fits-. the whole thing fits together masterfully, really flows.
i love all these different angles you're trying lately. eek. they're a pleasure to read, and sort of inspiring, too. i kept waiting for the big "explanation" and it's great 'cause i didn't expect -this- at all. i kept thinking something about draco (one track mind, lemme tell you), and. well. this was just-- the tone, the pacing, the language, the voice-- right all around.
