you talk about scary things, ivy, scary things, so why is it i trust you? *laughs* it seems -okay- somehow, when you say it. like it's -okay- that draco will go dark and there's only this deathbed apology... like... there's this sense that it's what you achieve, what you eventually attain and become that matters, what your heart truly -is-, instead of what it's afraid of. or something.
maybe it's just... my personal control test-subject who isn't in the fandom and yet reads cassie claire's and my fanfic (ahahah he's selective and he's also likely to read anything i tell him to, so)... um.. anyway, he's not too emotionally involved and yet he has a good grasp, and he says he pretty much sees draco as definitely getting worse. i think my affection for him (draco) is too great and my need for h/d not to totally become impossible as harry/voldemort too strong for me not to pull away at the last moment from seeing these things clearly. and yet, since you love them just as much and yet you see it too and ... i mean ... that doesn't mean the end... i guess i believe that.
the essay itself was quite brilliant. she -must- have a reason for doing this to draco, she must, she must. also, i think the snape-as-not-entirely-good thing is obvious too, and again, i don't want to see it. i don't think he'll betray them, but... as shown with quitting teaching harry, he's not above not going all out, not putting himself and his grudges above the order's needs...
and... yes, as i've been saying, harry obviously has to change just as much if not more than draco before draco can become anything resembling sympathetic. jkr has said they'll never work for the same side, but then... i'm hoping for some sort of -truce- or something, at least. there -has- to be a truce in the end, or the war won't be truly over, since you can't just kill off all the slytherins or something, can you. i mean, harry has to (and obviously, will) defeat lord voldemort, but he's just... i mean, he's not the sum of his problems. the death eaters would exist even without him, and you can't just throw them all into azkaban and forget about it, since their children will be there, since the mentality will be there.
something has to happen to the mentality, basically, not just to lord voldemort, for the eucatastophy to happen. and draco is basically the one who's the leader of the slytherins-- sway him and you have a good chance on influencing them all. but i mean... i'm not saying she has roses and periwinkles planned for him and the other slytherins in the end... it's just... like you said. if harry can't save one boy..... if the books end with the hatred intact.... it won't really be a victory as far as i'm concerned, and the sorting hat backs that up.
