I'm working as a production assistant at Wiley-Blackwell, who publish a whole range of journals -- mostly medical journals that I've worked on so far, but some others as well, Basically all I'm doing is logging in the articles as they arrive, emailing the authors to see if they want to pay for colour printing, emailing the authors if there's anything missing like a figure or a table that they've indicated is meant to be included. It's a ton of data entry, in other words. But it's a ton of data entry that will earn me $10K a year more than drudging away in the call centre where I was, not to mention that there are a ton of other perks, such as my own desk, my own computer, easy access to a bunch of different bakeries and shops for lunch if I don't bring it from home, and did I mention $10K extra per year? Not that it even moves me up a tax bracket, I don't think, but it's exciting enough as it is.
