Commissions (or lack thereof) seem to be a fandom-to-fandom issue.
I mean, furry fandom has always had commissions.
So that may've bled into Twilight stuff, and is fairly reasonably the norm. I dunno.
Mostly, my problem is that a) he's clearly targeting a particularly vulnerable population, there, and, far less importantly, b) it SUCKS. Wow, does it suck.
I'm still pretty active, and I've never heard of this person. But I've found that there is an enormous divide between ff.net fans and LJ fans. The comments that I receive from people on ff.net are not people I've EVER heard of.

No need to screen cap threads and the like, just pure testimonials... though, I suspect the landscape has changed somewhat with twitter and FB being the more popular vehicles for people networking/scamming and the like.
Oh, my. I was a member of Bit of Earth way back when so I remember the fallout, although I didn't personally get burned in any way. But wow, this person is back AGAIN? Keeps showing up like a very bad penny.
