*facepalms*

....I just realized that I've never noticed that 'The Toronto Maple Leafs' is grammatically incorrect.

O_O

Hopefully this just proves that I'm Canadian to the core and not that I'm just not very good with grammar.

The sign of a dead hockey team is when people know more about the Leafs than they do about the Habs. RIP Canadiens. /random

But it would sound awful to say the Leaves, wouldn't it? And there wouldn't be the instant name recognition thing :P But the test of being truly Canadian- do you have a t-shirt of the "I Am Canadian" rant Molson ad, and/or recite half of it without prompting?

Ahhh, that comment above should have read when people *in Montreal* know more about the Leafs than about the Habs.

just to play devil's advocate, i think the test of being truly canadian is a refusal to have one's national identity promoted to the world at large as merely a commodity. i am more than a beer and some over-paid ad executive's script.

on a side note, even though i'm a leafs fan by default, where i live right now, the big rivalry is habs/bruins. anyone who smashes the bruins is okay in my book.
