My head is hurting. But, that aside...
Origins 4: One of Us Falls just went out into the world. I think I took the longest time ever between finishing and posting this time. I couldn't think of a title, and I wanted a nifty quotation, which eluded me. I finally went with pretentious:
Oh, that I knew where I might find him,
That I might come even to his dwelling!
I would lay my case before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
I would learn what he would answer me,
and understand what he would say to me.
Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power?
Job 23:3-6
I chose this one because...er...well, it's Job, and I have Draco really struggling against things he doesn't entirely understand. Now, he doesn't know where to find Harry, but I mean it in the most metaphorical sense. Ya. And I liked the thing about 'come even to his dwelling', because that happens. Draco is like the devil at the door; he's right there, hovering, and he needs permission to enter, and isn't really sure he knows how to ask. Or even if he should go inside at all. But he's looking, and longing, and thinking. And throwing things and yelling and whining and complaining. I would lay my case before him, and fill my mouth with arguments...well, he does talk a good game, doesn't he. I think this is the thrust of it, here. Cause I figure that's what he wants, it's the conversation.
My friend S. says to me, the tragedy is in losing the conversation. A relationship with a conversation, one that you really want to participate in, that's what you mourn in the end. Not anything else, really, the other stuff is just a bonus. How rare is it to find someone who can converse with you on whatever level it is you find yourself. So that's why I liked that bit.
Would he contend with me...I liked this. Now, in Job, he's talking about God, of course. Here...well, that's what Draco wants. He wants someone to contend with him. That's sort of the point of this part, I think.
So read it at my site or read it at ff.net and review it. Yeah. that would be cool.
Well, since I have a captive audience here...I'll tell you the lyrics I would have loved to put up instead:
Every day I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person staring back at me
I'm a hazard to myself
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
—Pink, Don't let me get me
I just think that fun. Though, not really appropriate for this part. I just like the idea of someone annoying themselves. The other one I think would be funny:
There are many things that I would like to say to you
but I don't know how
Cause maybe
You'll be the one that saves me
—Oasis, Wonderwall
What the hell is a wonderwall anyway? Yes, I'm asking you. I await your answer with baited breath.
