Yes! Managed to finish my 4th piece for this week. \o/

Title: Furious(a)
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: Mad Max: Fury Road
Characters/Pairings: Imperator Furiosa
Content Notes: Created for Inktober - Day 21, word prompt: Furious. Furiosa. Of course. I had to! *g* This was done in three layers: first a pencil sketch with a bit of shading, then a wash of acrylic paint, then India ink over all of that.

I wasn't really sure how this would turn out, so I stopped and took pics at every stage, just in case I ruined it in the next step. :b So I've included a couple of the WiP photos under the cut tag as well. :)

[Catch-up] Inktober - Day 20 (Deep)

Forever chasing these prompts... :b

Title: Deep
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: DCU, Aquaman
Characters/Pairings: Aquaman (Arthur Curry)
Content Notes: Created for Inktober - Day 20, word prompt: Deep. I am SO EXCITED about Jason Momoa as the new Aquaman. Painted with Indian Ink. In addition to the ink drop, I tried a couple other techniques - scraping the paper afterwards to reveal small patches of white, and using salt crystals to create a rough texture.

Since it's an underwater scene, I've included a second version with a blue digital tint. I *love* the effect - that wash of colour really makes it come alive! :)

I always seem to be a day or two behind on these... :b

Title: Cloud
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: Firefly
Characters/Pairings: Serenity
Content Notes: Created for Inktober - Day 19, word prompt: Cloud. Serenity soaring above the clouds. ^___^ Painted with Indian Ink, using a combination of regular brush work for the clouds and the Ink Drop technique for all the rest. I've included a second version with slight digital tint.

I came across another really cool tutorial type vid: PAINTING MOONS with Indian Ink, and it inspired me to try my hand at this piece.

Because I enjoyed these and you might too.

First, a sweet little first date story (Mycroft/Lestrade):

Thanks in part to his own daring, Greg gets to know a whole different side of Mycroft.

Second, a Torchwood/Sherlock crossover in the five things type format that was charmingly fond of both Mycroft and Ianto:

Additional Tags: Family, Angst, Humor, Tragedy, 5+1
Summary:

(Or, five times Ianto Jones called Mycroft Holmes 'Tad', and one time Mycroft called Ianto 'Son.')

Hi guys! Just finished watching this week's episode. Once again, I really enjoyed it. I like Jack, I think Jensen and Jared are both acting their hearts out, as always. I like the story that they're telling so far. Tell me what you think, the good and the bad. I can't wait to see what everyone has to say. :)

The files are almost finished uploading. Once they're done, just follow the links below and then click to download whichever format you'd like best.

Title: Graceful
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: Avatar: Legend of Korra
Characters/Pairings: Korra
Content Notes: Created for Inktober - Day 17, word prompt: Graceful. This is my very first attempt at using India Ink with a paintbrush. I found the following video on YouTube to be particularly helpful: How to Draw and Paint Animals with Water: Ink Drip Technique.

The ink drip technique is SO COOL! I only have black ink right now, but would love to get my hands on other colours. So in addition to the original piece, I've also included a digital blue-tinted version below, which I rather like. :)

I need a huge favor, please...

Guys, I need to ask a huge favor, if you can't, it's completely fine and I understand. I hate to even ask.

We got another huge bill from Norton's Hospital about two weeks ago for one of Lee's last two infusions for his low iron levels. I was able to work with Norton's and got part of it put one our payment plan and paid off the rest. It was hard but I made it work.

Then we got another $450 bill for the second infusion therapy from the hospital on Friday. It didn't come until after they'd closed at 4pm. I wasn't able to call them about it until Monday, yesterday. I'd hoped to add it to our payment plan, too.

They told me if they added it, because our total is over $5000, that it'd make our monthly payments almost double what they are now. There's no way that we can afford that so I had to go ahead and pay the newest bill. That ate up pretty much everything we had to live on until the end of the month when Lee's paid again.

What makes it bad, and awful timing, is that Lee's leaving for Bloomington Wednesday morning for his three day conference trip for Statewide, he won't be home until Friday. He'll have some meals provided while he's there but not all, especially his dinners.

I'm going to take stuff to Half Price books and Clothes Mentor to sell today, plus I've got a bunch of stuff posted tonight to eBay, it's why I'm still up instead of sleeping like I should be. I just don't know if what I can make will be fast enough, or pay enough, for what we need.

If they do sell, though, it'll be a huge help. What I was hoping is that you'd help me spread the word about my having stuff up for sale. If you wouldn't mind doing it, here's the link:

http://stores.ebay.com/Barbaras-Essentials

If you see anything you'd like, but don't like using eBay, just let me know, we can figure out what postage will be then add it on. I can do checks but would prefer PayPal if possible. My PayPal addy is bstaton@iglou.com. If you don't have a PayPal account I can just invoice you for whatever you want to buy and then you can use either your debit or credit card to pay for it. I've done that for a couple of people and it works great.

I'm going to go try and grab a little sleep, I promise I'll check in later. Thanks, guys, as always, for listening! :)

*hugs*

These days, to get me reading a series you have to sneak it in. It has to start with a good story that stands on its own, that makes me want to read more and that can be read in relatively small chunks. While this series is 200K, the longest story is the first at 38K and the rest are a very comfortable 5K - 20K per story. I enjoyed the Greg POV mostly used for this story, the insight into living around a job that comes with a security detail and secret overseas trips, and I always love stories where Lestrade plays a meaningful role in younger Sherlock getting clean and staying clean.

I've been reading this series for the last week, on and off, and really enjoyed it.

Puppet on a String (38518 words) by kazvl
Chapters: 9/9
Fandom: Sherlock (TV)
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade, Mycroft Holmes/Gregory Lestrade, Mycroft/Greg
Characters: Mycroft Holmes, Gregory Lestrade, Sherlock Holmes, OCs, Anthea
Additional Tags: references to drug abuse, case files
Series: Part 1 of Fire and Ice
Summary:

"Afraid I'll embarrass you?" mocked Sherlock, looking up suddenly, his stare spearing Mycroft where he sat.

Sherlock was too thin, too dirty - it was always a bad sign when he neglected personal hygiene - and he looked as if he hadn't slept for a week.

"Oh, that ship sailed some years ago. You've been vocal enough about what you don't want. So tell me, brother dear, what is it you do want?"

"You to leave me the fuck alone," said Sherlock venomously.

Several heads turned. Mycroft ignored them. He took such incidents for granted when he was with Sherlock and had never cared what strangers thought - unless required to do so by his job.

This past week has been SUPER busy, but I'm glad I got the chance to at least work on a couple pieces. Hope to continue with these next week, but I'm thinking maybe I should switch up from marker to another form of inking - maybe do some brush work...

Title: Shattered
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: The Flash (TV 2014)
Characters/Pairings: Captain Cold (Leonard Snart)
Content Notes: Created for Inktober - Day 12, word prompt: Shattered. Drawn with a grey and black marker. Continuing from the day before, with the second half of my m/m ship. I wanted to try to get an icy texture with marker. Turns out it was a lot harder than expected. I got tired halfway through and just kinda half-assed the rest of it. So I'm not 100% happy with the result, but at least it was an interesting texture exercise.

Hi guys! Sorry it's been so long, I promise to tell you what's been going on as soon as I can. I'm here for another reason right now, though. Here we are, finally, at the start of another season. Number 13, can you believe it? Like I said before, I still can't believe we made it past five!

I just finished watching the first episode and really enjoyed it. I'm really looking forward to the journey this year, in many ways, they're starting with a blank slate. Tell me what you think, the good and the bad. I can't wait to see what everyone has to say. :)

The files are almost finished uploading. Once they're done, just follow the links below and then click to download whichever format you'd like best.
