Found my way in to Origins 15. I think. I only have 2 sentences. Will keep you posted. I was a bit boggled at how to work my way into this. But I think I've got it now. I wasn't sure who's POV I was using, and whether it would be a guest or not. I was toying with a few people. But so far I'm going with an old standard.

V. excited. :)

Libertine tells me that my characters have no faces. That there is as blindness to them, well, to us, we blunder around touching them but never know what they look like. She says my characters don't need faces, and that possibly the lack of faces is what makes people feel that they can be involved in my story. Because there's really nothing there to show them that it's not them, there, that I'm talking about.

I might have gotten that wrong. But that was sort of what I understood.

I'm not exactly going to give them faces, because I don't really know what that means. But it gave me an idea.

Okay, there's one thing that pisses me off today. Let me tell you all about it. You know how there's often a distinction between virgin-writing-smut, and someone-with-some-sexual-experience writing smut? Like, not that they have to do *everything*, not that it has to be gay sex or straight sex necessarily (ideally one of the two, of course, but not one or the other exclusively), but people who have some sense of what the sexual is about, some sense of how the engine works, some sense of how it all feels?

Right. So it's cool when someone can express that in a way that feels really genuine, I think. That sense of closeness and excitement and all of that. I don't care if you need a cliche to explain it or not, frankly, but it seems to me you can often tell who's writing by watching a steamy movie about sex and who is working from a memory of someone kissing their neck. Yanno what I'm saying?
