Shrove Tuesday et al
Mar. 4th, 2003 06:36 pmI only remembered about Shrove Tuesday because so many people mentioned it on lj, and decided to have pancakes today in honour of all my friends who are eating pancakes. I have forgotten what Shrove Tuesday is for, however, and I almost mixed it up with Ash Wednesday, but was not tempted to smudge my pancakes on my forehead. Thankfully.
I made really good pancakes, though. In spite of the fact that I have completely the wrong kind of frying pan, and I have no pancake flipper. I also have no baking soda but I do have a slotted spoon. I learned today that you don't actually need baking soda in pancakes. Just baking powder will do fine. And only having a slotted spoon means that you really won't flip that bad boy over until it's really, really done. My pancakes were far too thick but an art form of their own, if you ask me.
I'm way too lucky with breadish things. I keep making stuff up and having it just work, I'm blessed in the bread department. Yeast and quick breads, for reasons unknown. I guess we all have our gifts.
I also have remarkably nice ankles.
I would like to take this time to condemn
bonibaru for hacking my lj and irresponsbility posting nonsense. Just for the record, I don't drink coffee and I don't put sugar in my tea. Terrible of her to suggest these things. Though, it's true that my love for her,
bexless, and
tstar78 knows no bounds. And I must agree with the 32.7% of people who think I should write an open letter to Tom Welling challenging him to open combat for the affections of Michael Rosenbaum. He's got the height, but does he have the speed and agility of a cheesy-gif making fanfiction writer? I don't think so.
Also: didn't drop any babies today. Not even one.
Edited to say: Shrove Tuesday = the day Catholics go get shriven. Yeah, I remembered. Hehehehehe. Shrive well!
