Veelainc OoTP Spoiler Policy
May. 26th, 2003 12:16 amOoTP is fast approaching - which means time for spoilers, book discussions, and so forth. Warnings galore. So here's the veelainc spoiler policy, for those interested:
Seven days. This isn't a huge amount of time I know, but since we're all Harry Potter fans, I'm going to trust that everyone on the list who cares about such things will at least have done a first read through by then. On June 28th, canon discussion will no longer be considered spoilage on veelainc. From that point on, members free to say whatever you like. The 28th is a Saturday, and I hope to see many of you in the chat on that day to tell us what you thought of the book!
If you can't bear the 7 day moratorium on canon discussion veelainc, members are free to use the chatroom for canon discussion at any time. We also suggest going over to the Order of the Phoenix discussion forum at fiction alley park for all your canon-discussion needs until June 28th and beyond.
Our other veelainc spoiler policy: to protect the group from anyone trying to spoil us just for fun, the list will go moderated for 72 hours from the time that OoTP is released. What this means: no messages will go public until they're approved by a mod. Yeah, I know, this sounds a bit extreme, but we don't really want to see anyone jump in and put a spoiler in a subject header just for kicks. We debated this one long and hard, and in the end we figure it can't hurt. I don't think it will affect the list that much; there are so many mods and someone is bound to catch messages and approve them quickly. And it's only a few days.
Hopefully this will protect the innocent and harness the wicked....if you have any questions or problems with these policies please free free leave a comment or contact any of the mods.
I can't wait, I can't wait!!!

No discussion about the new canon on list until a week after the book has come out. No comments like "OMG SHE KILLED [insert favourite character here]!" No talk about book 5 at all for seven days.
At least until everyone gets at least a fighting chance to read the book.
Cause d00d, if you spoil the book forbonibaru, she'll hurt us all.

IF YOU'RE ON DIGEST AT VEELAINC AND YOU DON'T WANT TO ACCIDENTALLY SEE ANYTHING SPOILERY, TAKE THIS TIME NOW TO GO TO NO MAIL. At least until you've read the book.
