Well, my own livejournal policies have defeated and cannibalized themselves.
Long ago I decided that I would friend everyone who friended me on livejournal. My reasons behind this are many and varied. I meet new people in the fandom all the time and I really enjoy that; I add people who add me because generally we have things in common, and if someone thinks we have enough in common to bother friending me then I want to friend them back. I like reading people's journals; people are entertaining and interesting and I like reading about them and their lives. I have met so many fun and interesting people via livejournal, it seems to me to be a shame not to pay attention to who friends me. I would not have met some of my best online friends had I not friended them out of the blue, after all. *eyes

Also, I friend everyone because I am inherently a communist and the idea of limiting my friends list to a certain elect freaks me out. That's just my own issue, it's not a critcism of anyone else. I like livejournal, I do, but I find it very cliquey at it's worst and not very welcoming to newbies. I mean, if you don't have an in, where do you start with it? I adore newbies, I love enthusiastic people with fresh ideas and all that excitement about things I've been staring at myself for the last two years, so I don't hesitate to friend new journals and whatnot.
If for some reason you have friended me and I have not returned the favour, it is most likely an oversight on my part rather than a deliberate decision not to.
Suddenly I have discovered that livejournal has set a limit on how many people you can friend. I discovered this by hitting it.
I have no idea what I'm going to do now. I know I have to go though and take a few ex-journals off the list, but I guess I need a new policy. WAAHHH.
