A good writing day
Jan. 30th, 2006 11:00 amYesterday it poured. All day. But that was okay, because I did my laundry and my grocery shopping on Saturday, so I had nothing pressing to do for the coming week. So I made myself nice food (potato soup for lunch, and chicken with green beans for dinner) and wrote. And wrote and wrote and wrote.
I have finally moved passed the Mary Sue paranoia that was keeping me from finishing the scene I've been struggling with since xmas, greatly helped by spending 4 hours writing up a html/php form and automating the Original Fiction Mary Sue Litmus Test. I did this mostly because I don't trust the scores I get out of it, since I can't keep track of all those numbers in my head. And thus! The ladies who maintain the original test graciously posted it (and very fast too...I only wrote it on Friday night. Yes, Friday night. This is what I do for fun. I know, I know).
Special thanks to
truepenny and
matociquala for having truly wonderful discussions on the nature of Mary Sue (and how best to avoid her) in their respective journals (you can find those very engaging conversations here and here).
