Potter Author Makes Unusual Post-Publication Edit
Bloomsbury announced today that J. K. Rowling, author of the best-selling Harry Potter books, has had a change of heart about how she ended the final book in the series.
"The epilogue was totally unnecessary," Rowling said in an interview. "I see that now. Not only is Harry not cruel enough to dump a name like 'Albus' on one of his own children, but there's no way Malfoy would be balding."
Rowling acknowledges that she heard some criticism of the epilogue after the book was released, but her change of heart was entirely unrelated.
"Harry and Ginny? I mean, come on," Rowling said. "If you give that any degree of thought you realize that union would never work. Sure, the might have hooked up briefly, what with Harry's Weasley family fetish, but it would get old pretty fast. And who is this Astoria that Malfoy married? Where did she come from? I blame all the gin I was drinking at the time."
Bloomsbury will be sending out teams to major cities across the UK, Europe, and North America to physically excise the epilogue from reader's books, replacing it with a short story about Neville Longbottom.
