I lurk here usually *hangshead* but I had to come out of the woodwork for this one, because I know just what you mean about finding the right place and it feeling like home. We're actually waiting to hear back now on our final request for repairs for a place. When we first saw it, after a crazy weekend of seeing 30 other places that were far from right, it just felt--like what we had been looking for, like home. We made a low ball offer, and it was accepted, although the seller appears to be having second thoughts but it looks like all will come through in the end! We weren't thinking we would buy either, but with the interest rates going up like you said, it seems like the right thing to do--and then we found this place!
