So I finished this manuscript, right? Well, it still needs some tinkering, and I've done one big bad edit (VERY big bad edit, like I rewrote a good third of it, at LEAST) and I asked a few people to go over it for me. Cause like, I'm at that blind spot with it, I don't know where it needs my attention anymore.

Right, so the most fabulous mistful did a stellar beta job on it. She sent me back a file that's ONE MEG. I'm so so so grateful for all her work, so incredibly grateful.

I'm terrified to open the file.

*fidgets*

*weeps*

I want someone to hold my hand while I do this and tell my how fantastic I am. Tell how stellar and brilliant and mind-bogglingly gorgeous I am. ("And here I am just in my pajamas, why thank you, darling.")

As a complete aside, I have raspberry-scented deodorant. Just a little bit of trivia to keep me from witnessing the joy of the beta commentary.

And you thought I didn't have a beta for fanfic because I'm cocky. Well, now you know the horrible truth.

Edited to say: Okay, I went through the entire beta, mistful is a GODDESS. It's a great beta and didn't even hurt that much. My love for her is great and t00by.

How does one find a beta reader who will not be at all influenced by one's fanfiction?

Does anyone know someone from another fandom or something who would be even vaguely interested in doing a big ass beta? After finally getting the courage to go over the first set of beta comments I'm heartened to try this again. Of course even if I'm successful in finding someone it will probably take me a week to open THAT file too.

Why do people friend me when they've never read my fanfiction? Am I really that interesting?
