Rosenupdate
Oct. 20th, 2003 11:43 pmOkay, this is a very busy week for me, so I might not be around so much. I have assignments due every day this week and I'm really only caught up to Tuesday, which would be tomorrow. After that I'm kinda sorta screwed. Eeek!
I'd also like to take this time to mention that my Rosenlove is gone.
As some people may know, I have been through something of an identity crisis in the last six months or so. After 10 dedicated years of lesbianhood, I found myself with a crush on a boy, and it threw me for a loop. Of course that boy was Michael Rosenbaum, who plays Lex Luthor on Smallville. Why have a crush on a boy you actually know when you can have a crush on a celebrity, I ask you.
I don't know that I can or ever will be able to explain the phenomenon of the rosencrush. I mean, he's Jewish, he's lefthanded, he plays the guitar, he's very funny, these are all good things. But why my appreciation for those qualities turned into a crush I don't entirely understand. Maybe there was something in the water.
But what I know now is that it's over. Not that I think any less of the man, I'm sure he's a great guy. And he's still really funny, I wouldn't argue that anything has changed. I'm just not swinging that way anymore, I'm afraid. It was kind of an experiment in bisexuality that ended without anyone getting hurt. It's for the best, really.

Dear Michael,
It's not you. It's me.
Fondly,
Ivy Blossom

Date: 2003-10-21 04:37 am (UTC)Try explaining that concept in the grad club..."No, I don't really think the bartender is kinda cute, I tend to only fancy men who are, a. actors playing characters - the characters that is - or, b. people from books who have never existed. And they tend to be kinda gay."
Works a treat, I'll tell you.

Date: 2003-10-21 06:06 am (UTC)The dangers of drinking! But hey, we didn't even bring it up! And L. is all about it, I swear she is. :)

Date: 2003-10-21 05:52 pm (UTC)I'm not embarassed, although Meg muttered something to me about 'writing slash fiction about librarians' this morning, which was disconcerting.
And yeh...L. So down with it. I reckon a research question for 503 on the secret slash behaviour of 20-something female students would be a veritable minefield.
