Ideal worlds
Jan. 5th, 2004 07:09 pmIn my ideal world, I would have two washers and two dryers, so that I can do a light and a dark load at the same time.
I would have many networked computers in my house, and files would be openable from any of them. Different terminals of one central system, if you will. I would have an imac in the kitchen, whose sole purpose would be IMing, tooling around the internet, and various other non-productive pursuits. I would also have a very whiz-bang laptop that I would replace every year or so. Or whenever something pretty comes out.
Apple would come out with computers in pretty colours again. Ideally, pink and yellow.
I would own my own server, and have unlimited bandwidth.
I would own a pair of pink leather boots.
I would have a balcony overlooking some either a park or a bit of unlabelled greenery. It would be facing east so that when it rains the wind doesn't blow the rain onto the balcony. That way I could sit out there and write regardless of the weather.
I would have a bathtub with a reclined back and claw feet.
I would have a chaise lounge in my office. A pink chaise lounge would not be lonely in my ideal world.
All my soap would be vanilla scented. Also, all my moisturizers. I wouldn't be opposed to the option of vanilla-scented shampoo and conditioner, either.
Someone would come in and clean my house for me once a week. Nothing fancy, just vaccuming and that sort of thing. Though, since this is an ideal world, they would also do my dishes if there were any hanging around. Man, I hate doing dishes. Maybe I would have a dishwasher. Whoever came up with that idea in the first place is a genius.
There would be multiple clocks in every room.
In my ideal world, you would be able to hear church bells/clock towers from any location, within and outside my ideal home.
I would be able to teleport myself to any place around the world, at any time, so that I would always be within easy distance of all the people I love most. Though they might get annoyed with me popping by at odd hours.
Yahoo would bother to write software for macs that doesn't completely suck.

Date: 2004-01-05 04:18 pm (UTC)And this?
In my ideal world, you would be able to hear church bells/clock towers from any location, within and outside my ideal home.
I love. The village my brother lives in has that. And for every occasion, wedding/holiday/death ect, the bells rings out a different melody.
I would be able to teleport myself to any place around the world,
Yes! Please. Also, I want one of those food dispenser machines like on the Jetsons or star trek. Who needs a dishwasher/fridge/stove when you've got one of those.

Date: 2004-01-05 05:08 pm (UTC)My last house had a churchyard over the back wall. On Sundays I used to sit in the garden, reading the papers and enjoying the bells. Can recommend it. In my ideal world, I'd probably still have it - only much bigger, and with a teleport. Oh, and the dual washer thing, could definitely go for that. Not sure about the boots, though.

Ah, if only we could dictate our lives...

Date: 2004-01-05 07:15 pm (UTC)This world is lovely. No wonder you're exhausted - building all that is a lot of hard work, although ultimately the two W/D sets (would one be black and the other white?) would be very labor-saving. And the tub and chaise very relaxing.
I think I could live quite happily in your world, although I would also require multiple pairs of scissors in every room - paper and nail at least. Where do scissors GO? And why can't I ever find them?
My favorite Christmas gift this year - a very pretty mantle clock with rich, full Westminster chimes on the quarter hour. You can hear it from everywhere in the house and every 15 mins I have a "oh how lovely" moment.

Yea for these ideals! I hate to do laundry. Takes such an awful amount of time....
