Do you ever get the feeling, while you're writing, that you're writing from the wrong point of view?

I've decided that Harry isn't all that easy to write at all. I understand what he's thinking, but it's just that everything is so surface that there really isn't much to say. Everything just turns into a dissertation on how bad the Death Eaters are, or how restless he feels, or something like that.

Like.

I can't get him to ponder much. He's just kind of, "la dee da, I'm at school, la dee da, I like flying, la dee da, I got a nice letter, I wonder who it's from, la dee da..." I guess I should have given them a school plot. Like, I'm sure Voldemort is trying to kill Harry right now, as he does in every other year, but I just don't feel like plotting all that out. I thought perhaps Harry could have a semi-ordinary school year for once. Silly me.

"Hmm, la dee da, I got a nice present, la dee da, there's Malfoy staring at me again, I wonder what he's plotting? La dee da."

Oh Harry. *facepalms*

"I wonder if Ron likes these trousers. I think they might be a little short for me. I bet he thinks I look like a geek."

"OH! I just got that joke Dean told me earlier! The CAT! HA HAH HAHAHA that's really funny. Hehehheheeeeee. Whoops, Snape is looking at me funny."

"Malfoy is looking at me again. What's his deal. I shall give him my best sneer. Hold on. Why is he laughing?"

"Ron has more facial hair than I do. Doesn't that mean something? Am I less manly? Maybe I'm gay. Hmm. Let's not tread down that path at the moment. Malfoy is still looking at me."

"Ouch. Best not to shove quill up nose when trying to simply scratch nose. Eeek. Parvati is laughing at me. That bitch."

"OH NO. MY SCAR HURTS. Oh, no, wait, it's just itchy."

"My bum hurts. These stools aren't comfy. I wonder if anyone would mind if I transfigured it into a bean bag chair."

"Malfoy isn't looking at me anymore. Am I not interesting enough?"

"I think I need a haircut."
