Big News...for me
Aug. 14th, 2003 03:22 pmOkay, here's the deal: yesterday I was down in London (Ontario) for a job interview. I only heard about this job coming up at the end of last week and I got a call from them on Monday, went down on Wednesday (it's 2 hours away), had an hour and a half interview, and this morning I got a call from them announcing that I got the job. Wait, not the job I applied for, no no, but a better job, with twice the pay, and the fancy title of 'Academic Programmer'.
I'm now moving to London (Ontario) on Tuesday morning. !!!!!
I'm thrilled, I really am, but I wanted to send out a big warning (or something): from here on in, my life is going to totally change. I'm going to be a full time student and also working within the dorm system in London. I'm not saying this is going to make me leave the fandom or anything, but I suspect my contributions to it will come in new and different ways.
Of course, I'm living on campus, I won't need to shop for food, cook, or clean up. I will have an ethernet connection and I live about 20 feet from the building all my classes will be in. So I'm still going to be around, and I suspect I will still be writing and nattering and moderating and all that.
But if I can't get back to you right away, as I'm used to doing, I just want to make sure everyone knows not to take it too personally. Apparently I have a life now.
In other news: for those of you with ipods but no funky million dollar cases for them; go to one of those third world craft stores and get a cute little 10 dollar cellphone purse. They have these silky ones with embroidery on them, they fit an ipod perfectly. And they go over your shoulder!
In even more news: my friend
complicittheory figured out how to remove the wrist marks on my ibook, the grey U shapes that get left on either side of the trackpad. You won't believe this. Don't buy the million dollar cleaner. Just get a white artist's eraser. You can just ERASE them. It works!
