Okay, here's the deal: yesterday I was down in London (Ontario) for a job interview. I only heard about this job coming up at the end of last week and I got a call from them on Monday, went down on Wednesday (it's 2 hours away), had an hour and a half interview, and this morning I got a call from them announcing that I got the job. Wait, not the job I applied for, no no, but a better job, with twice the pay, and the fancy title of 'Academic Programmer'.

I'm now moving to London (Ontario) on Tuesday morning. !!!!!

I'm thrilled, I really am, but I wanted to send out a big warning (or something): from here on in, my life is going to totally change. I'm going to be a full time student and also working within the dorm system in London. I'm not saying this is going to make me leave the fandom or anything, but I suspect my contributions to it will come in new and different ways.

Of course, I'm living on campus, I won't need to shop for food, cook, or clean up. I will have an ethernet connection and I live about 20 feet from the building all my classes will be in. So I'm still going to be around, and I suspect I will still be writing and nattering and moderating and all that.

But if I can't get back to you right away, as I'm used to doing, I just want to make sure everyone knows not to take it too personally. Apparently I have a life now.

In other news: for those of you with ipods but no funky million dollar cases for them; go to one of those third world craft stores and get a cute little 10 dollar cellphone purse. They have these silky ones with embroidery on them, they fit an ipod perfectly. And they go over your shoulder!

In even more news: my friend [livejournal.com profile] complicittheory figured out how to remove the wrist marks on my ibook, the grey U shapes that get left on either side of the trackpad. You won't believe this. Don't buy the million dollar cleaner. Just get a white artist's eraser. You can just ERASE them. It works!

My city has been blacked out since 4:30pm today, and I'm not entirely sure why I'm able to connect. I'm hijacking my dad's dial up because (of course) my dsl modem isn't working. I have no idea what's going on anywhere else in the world, so forgive me if I sound uninformed. We're doing fine up here, though it's a slightly creepy now as it gets dark to see NO LIGHTS ANYWHERE. No streetlights, no traffic signals, no cosy little lights in houses, nothing.

At 4:30 all the shops and restaurances and grocery stores just shut down and everyone went home. The hot dog vender downtown must have made a killing, there was a huge line up for his wares, the only food you could buy anywhere in the vicnity. Crossing the street scares me a bit because, heck, no traffic lights means I'm just a deer in headlights.

I had to go outside and borrow someone's lighter, but now my apartment is lit by tealights grouped on plates.

Though I must say it's cool to see all these people with nothing better to do than play with their kids.

My love out to everyone else living in a blackout zone...here's to hoping we get some juice back soon. I've not got much time left...later all!
