Just some suggestions, some thoughts, just random, thinking about things that would and would not be good to say to HP actors.

Daniel Radcliffe:
Good
"You're a great Harry Potter!"
"Your mother let you watch Y Tu Mama Tambien?"
"Do you think Harry will be alive at the end of book 7, or not?"
"You're so much taller than I expected!"
"Have you heard [name favourite band here]?"

Daniel Radcliffe:
Bad
"Have you read [name favourite slash fic here]?"
"Are you gay? Come on, we all know you're gay. You're at least bi!"
"Are you still a virgin?"
"Are you busy later? Okay, how about right now?"
"Do you find Alan Rickman attractive? I sure do!"

Tom Felton:
Good
"Caught anything large and slimy lately?"
"Can you parallel park yet?"
"You're not ever going to read Harry Potter, are you."
"You're so much taller than I expected!"
"Nice bling bling! Yo yo yo!"

Tom Felton:
Bad
"Have you read [name favourite slash fic here]?"
"Have you seen this slashy photo manip? Isn't that sweet?"
"So, how do you love each other, really?"
"You are legal now, aren't you? I mean, at least for my purposes you are."
"Do you find Alan Rickman attractive? I sure do!"

Emma Watson:
Good
"So what exactly is body popping, and does it hurt?"
"Where did you get that skirt, it's really cute."
"Do you think Hermione will still be alive at the end of the Harry Potter series?"

Emma Watson:
Bad
"Have you heard of fanfiction? How about femslash?"
"I hope you grow out of this bitchy phase."
"You really should hire someone to dress you. Clearly you can't do it for yourself."
"Do you find Alan Rickman attractive? I sure do!"

The Phelps twins:
Good
"You guys have a great website!"
"How's the filming?"
"You two are so funny!"

The Phelps twins
Bad
"Have you read [name favourite slash fic here]?"
"Have you ever heard of twincest? Let me explain it to you..."
"Do you shower together, or separately?"
"Do you find Alan Rickman attractive? I sure do!"

same here. I mean I can understand if he was a year or so older, maybe two, but shite, with his parents? must be the edited version or something.

How old is he again? My dad let me watch some 18s films when I was 14 or so. And after all, he is going to be directed by Cuaron. It's probably more like research. (Did I spell that right, or is there a Spanish thingy somewhere in the letters?)

From: [identity profile] petulans.livejournal.com
Make that ten or eleven in my case. It's all a matter of whether the parent thinks that their child is able to deal with the issue in a film and, if they're particularly thoughtful, whether they'd appreciate it and it's message (in the case of Y Tu Mama Tambien which I happen to love for reasons entirely unrelated to "boy-on-boy" action and would have very likely appreciated at his age.) Dan's parents have never seemed the type to simply allow him to run wild and seem to both have his best interests at heart and genuinely consider what's best for him in situations.

Thats true. His parents would probably ease up for research purposes. I watched some R rated movies when I was 14 or so too, I'm not that messed up for it. Besides, my friends were more disturbing than any movie!

Yeah... well I think that we are being maybe a tad hard on selves, or perhaps others are not being as hard on themselves as we are... meaning that, in checking out the James and Oliver Phelps site (http://www.james-phelps.com/), particularly the forums, some of the folks there are just as [insert word here]? Maybe the twins have a sense of humor about it?

Anywho... *shurgs*

they might, and probably do. I'm thinking its probably not the first time they've heard about something like this, though maybe not about characters they play in a movie. Its a bit disturbing that way. I'll take a look at the message boards though, thanks!

You know, there's a special level in hell for this, but I actually laughed really hard when I saw that photo. What the fangirls did was really, really pathetic and I'm sure those poor boys are going to be smashing bricks to their foreheads to forget this, but oh Christ, I thought their expressions were funny. Really, I'm sorry, I keep forgetting my pills.

"Caught anything large and slimy lately?"

Really though, depending on whether or not the fan is a member of the Squidwarts fandom..*eye twitch*

"Have you seen this slashy photo manip? Isn't that sweet?"

Jesus on a pogo stick, I wish somebody'd tell that to the LOTR fandom.

w0rd. I mean - there's just some things you *never* say to actors, right??? Especially if you consider that hey, they're twins themselves and that just gives it a whole deeper meaning. No wonder they were squicked. Not only that, it's this kind of thing that gives the whole *fandom* a bad image.

Urgh.

What really bothers me is these people who are so readily sprouting off to anyone about twincest are a)non-twins and b)people who've NEVER known twins. I've known enough to where twincest isn't even gross because it's incest, but because it's just... so... not happening. Maybe that one time when they were 12, after all, its someone close to you, you [most of the time] have your own language, and you're both learning about your bodies at the same time. But a lasting thing? The kind of things I see written (both HP and Tolkien related), where the excuse is that its two people trapped in the same body, and it's akin to masturbation because its the same soul divided in two?

When I first saw the picture I didn't know the backstory and laughed thinking it was a joke. I got this whole scenario in my head that perhaps the Phelps Twins had found some twincest online, were disturbed about it and decided to lightheartidly let people know they were uncomfortable with it, figuring that would be the best way to handle it.

I never dreamed that someone would be rude and stupid enough to actually force it in their faces like they did.

Perfect. Someone needed to say it. You've done so very concisely.

Why is it that suddenly my two major fandoms have thought it's a good idea to brag about slash to the actors? I cannot for the life of me understand it.

Oh. My. GOD. Read the entry, laughed. Read the comments and followed links. Got very disturbed. Personally I find it hard to believe that any of the actors don't know about the slash being written, and that includes the Weasley/twincest, but, as has already been stated...these are actual living breathing human beings who are BROTHERS, and who, as of yet and hopefully for the future as well, are not in the business of making pornographic films with one another. The expressions on their faces are funny enough, but I wouldn't be surprised if that one fan ruined the day for them. *shudder*

And of course they all find Alan Rickman attractive. HE HAS THE VOICE OF GOD!! GOD I SAY!!! Tim Roth was supposed to play Snape, I read on IMDB last night. I scoff at the lack of Alan Rickman Voiceness in his voice. *ahem*

Hey...

Date: 2003-10-06 08:13 am (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
Do not scoff at the non-Rickman-ness of Tim Roth's voice. Instead marvel at the glory that is Tim Roth in all his Roth-y goodness. He was going to be Snape? Damn... now I'm all conflicted over actors I love and how it COULD have been... a bit like when I first discovered that Eric Stolz was going to be Marty Fly...

In other news, ah Alan Rickman's voice. If only you could bottle that shit, yo.

OMG: You are brilliant. Seriously... my friend and I (both crazy journalism students) are writing a fic where we interview the cast on the set of PoA (mockumentary style) and you took the words right out of my mouth (specifically: are you legal? Yes? Good - let's shag. lol) May I allude to (and pay homage to) your genius? *runs around wildly from joy*

New classics...
"Your mother let you watch Y Tu Mama Tambien?"

"Are you gay? Come on, we all know you're gay. You're at least bi!"

"You're not ever going to read Harry Potter, are you."

"You are legal now, aren't you? I mean, at least for my purposes you are."

"I hope you grow out of this bitchy phase."

"You really should hire someone to dress you. Clearly you can't do it for yourself."

My sentiments exactly :). While I'm randomly delurking: I love your fic. In a sad "I've read almost all of them and have made everyone I know read them" kind of way.

But seriously: his parents let him watch Y Tu Mama Tambien? Are they *crazy*?!?!?!? I swear, that kid is like fourty, not fourteen. *sigh* I'll stop scaring you now. ;)

this is terribly late, but today, while teaching inner-city middle-schoolers, I finally learned what body popping is. Now, I can't describe it, really, it's something you've just got to see. It involves what looks like, well, every bone of your body popping in and out of place.

unfortunately, no one else seemed to understand why I found it so amusing.
